Use a £50 note someone snorted coke with, go to jail!

Posted by: Mike

Holy shit!

A pub in Bicester demanded that patrons entering the premises be subjected to a banned substances scan, consisting of swabbing the palms of your hands and then scanning the swab.

Drug scanner checks public.

If you decided not to submit to the test, you were banned from entering the pub, if you submitted to the test and it showed you were positive for a banned substance, including cocaine and weed, you were searched and banned from the pub — what happened to guilty until proven innocent? What happened to personal freedom? WHAT’S HAPPENING TO THIS FUCKING COUNTRY!?

Apparently, by testing positive, the police have “reasonable suspicion” to search you. It’s this paragraph which amazes me the most:

Mr Duffy explained the machine also picked up tiny traces of drugs that innocent people could get from handling contaminated bank notes.

Essentially, if someone you don’t know, have never met, or even SEEN hands a £20 to someone in a supermarket that they spent the morning snorting charlie up their nose with, you’re then given the £20 as change and head to The Litten Tree in Bicester, you’re going to be arrested. Arrested? Yes. Read the following quote:

The drug itemiser was also used in Witney and Banbury two weeks ago. About 260 revellers were tested, with one person arrested on suspicion of possessing class A and C drugs

“Hah!” Thinks you, “drugs on money! Never”. Read these:

Banknotes ‘tainted with cocaine’ (This was in 1999!)
£15m of notes tainted by drugs are destroyed

What amazes me is the look of gurning foolery on the fuckers face in the photo. Does he not realise that his civil liberties have been eroded just a little bit? By relenting your freedom and offering yourself to this kind of Orwellian badgering by the government, we’re taking one step closer to a police state and the government maintaining strict control over every aspect of your life. Not only that, once you’re inside the pub, you can drink as much Stella as you’re capable of paying for and then, on the way home get into a fight and punch/kick/stab someone/smash a window/etc/etc! It’s OK, just don’t smoke that joint when you get home, you’ll be breaking the law and will have to go to jail.

Knife crime and the future of the world.

Posted by: Mike

First, read this:

U.K. School Kids Strap on Stab-Proof Vests as Knife Crime Soars.

While I don’t disagree that knife crime is a serious problem, that article is sensationalist at best.

A child is stabbed to death in Britain every two weeks and knife killings outnumber gun homicides three to one, said Norman Brennan, a police officer and director of the Victims of Crime Trust.

This is simply not true, unless you only look at the time frame of the last 2 months.

Reading that article would make you assume that every school in the country is run by little gangs of kids who run around stabbing people - it’s predominantly schools in low income areas (probably, hey, I didn’t research that OK?) (and Ninja Academies, but’s it’s ok there.) and not every school has marauding gangs of teenagers roaming the playgrounds looking for people to stab.

What should we do about it though? Where does the fault lie? The parents for not instilling a better moral code in their children? The government for making disciplining your own children harder and more likely to get you banged up for child abuse or restricting the actions the police can take with juveniles for fear of reprisal through the courts as money-grabbing litigious parents look for any excuse to sue someone, when a thick ear or a kick up the arse would do? Record labels for promoting gang culture and violence through rap and R’n'b? Society for slowly becoming weaker and weaker until it is no longer able to function as a collective community police force incase screaming mobs of outraged parents break down your door or sue your ass (You leave little johnny alone! He’s troubled!)?

It’s no better anywhere else either, the whole world has become a wuss - unable to put it’s foot down and smack the legs of children who step out of line all for fear of being sued, or convicted of child cruelty. Many of my peers and probably every generation before mine were smacked on the legs or cuffed around the ear by their parents and I don’t remember rampant knife crime, promescuity or violence on this level by any people my age.

Unless you are a complete headcase, most people are ingrained with the balance of right and wrong - stabbing someone is wrong, these kids know this, yet they still do it. Bring back stricter corporal punishment, that’ll put the little b’stards straight.

Grrrrr makes me MAD!

Fin.

Update:

Someone questioned my “simply not true” statement (I never said I researched it!)

FATAL STABBINGS (ENGLAND AND WALES)

1994 - 231
1995 - 243
1996 - 197
1997 - 200
1997/8 - 202
1998/9 - 20
1999/00 - 212
2000/01 - 214
2001/02- 261
2002/03 - 266
2003/04 - 234
2004/05 - 236

- from the BBC (via Phil)

I was questioning the “child stabbed to death every two weeks” statement, not the other half of the sentence, but these statistics are shocking reading, but I guess the reason that knife crime outnumbers gun crime is because knives are easier to come by than guns, they always have been and always will be - I remember buying a “Rambo” knife from the market when I was a kid, complete with compass and stitch-your-arm-back-on-after-a-200-foot-fall-through-trees sewing kit.

I never stabbed anyone, I just whittled bows and arrows (which never worked) and spears (which never worked), I never crossed my mind to stab someome as it’s WRONG.

It’s not the knives that are the problem, or the guns, or the ease in which you can get either, the real problem is the reason behind why people think they need to join gangs, be violent, “protec’ mah respec’” or whatever else there is.

Two minutes silence?

Posted by: Mike

Today, I observed the two minutes silence for the victims of the London bombings on 7th July 2005 and I got to thinking.

Why do these people get two minutes?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that the victims shouldn’t get two minutes, I just don’t understand why, say, the vicitms of the 2nd World War only get one minute?

According to Wikipedia, 62 million people lost their lives during the 2nd World War, they were fighting for our freedom, being put through the most terrifying moments of their lives only to have it ended by a enemy bullet, and their bravery and courage marked, often, whith nothing more than a white wooden cross. Yet, these people only get one minute.

The First World War yielded a death-toll of 66 million (this includes deaths attributed to Spanish Flu) and these people are hardly even remembered!

This isn’t to mention the fact that millions of people were the victim of Genocide; the Peoples Republic of China, Rowanda, Cambodia. How about all the people who died in concentration camps?

How about people who died of natural disaster? Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Tornados and volcanoes?

All these people are, in some way, innocent and yet, do they all get two minutes silence to mark the day they died, while they were busy being innocent?

Let this video enlighten you on how ridiculous the American government is:

Best Kept Military Secrets.

This blows my mind. I sat watching this with my mouth open. They couldn’t find it, so they gave up the search? Thats is quite possibly the most outrageous thing I have ever heard.

Perhaps the bomb is corroded so much that it will never explode, but is that worth the risk? Suppose some terrorist group decided they would use todays technology to try and locate the bomb and actually see if it could explode?

Simply breathtaking stupidity.

The Bush administration failed

Posted by: Mike

In an astonishing peice of groundbreaking news, it appears as though the US governement failed in the reaction and action relating to all things Katrina.

All levels of the US government, from President Bush down, were at fault for the poor response to Hurricane Katrina, a leaked Congressional report says.

From BBC News: US government ‘failed’ on Katrina

Does this come as a surprise to anyone at all?

Mr Brown argued that the response to Hurricane Katrina would have been more effective if a terrorist had blown up one of the levees.

Thats right, remember how more money is being spent on the War on Terror than it is on the safety of US citizens at home? How money that was set aside to improve the levees was instead used to fund the war in Iraq?

“The investigators said they ‘are left scratching our heads at the range of clumsiness and ineptitude that characterised government behaviour before and after this storm.’” Most of the rest of the world has been left scratching their heads ever since Bush was re-elected for a 2nd term.

I’m glad that this report has been leaked, it means it cannot be censored or covered-up. The US government should be held accountable for their actions, I just hope that they can learn from their mistakes.

Politics seems to get in the way of even the most basic of human desires: survival.

Intelligent Design

Posted by: Mike

L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican paper announced in Tuesdays edition that Intelligent Design is not science.

No shit.

I’ve been reading bits and peices about intelligent design for a while and one thing that strikes me is that it is all very purile.

Some religious nuts are upset that only science is taught in schools, which is a fair point. But ‘Intelligent Design’ is just a thinly veiled attempt at turning religion into science as far as I can tell, and I can’t remember the last time that any school system was allowed to teach it’s children lies and half-truths based on a work of fiction written about 2000 years ago.

I think that children should be exposed to religion, but only when they are old enough and only as a point of reference. I.E. religion is out there kids, this is what it is, make your own mind up. Not teaching them that it is THE TRUTH. Kids believe Power Rangers are real, how difficult will it be to push onto them fiction about a man on a cross who could perform miracles? Not very difficuly I would wager.

I don’t want to get into a bitchfight with myself about religion, I’ve still not completely made up my mind about it. All I do know is that it is a great way to control a large number of people, but religion is losing it’s hold over society - the internet helps. It’s now easier than ever to find out about anything, not just religion and to get a — mostly — unbiased view on the subject.

So, becoming religious is almost like buying a new car or house. You pick the one most suited to your needs - which kind of makes a mockery of it eh?

Everyone needs faith in something, but faith is a personal thing and not something you can put upon other people, espcially children. Parents have a duty to educate their children on many things, but religion is something personal. Of course, as a parent, you want your child to have the same set of beliefs that you do, but you also want to give them the choice and the information to make it an informed choice. Well you should do, what kind of parent are you otherwise? Until a child reaches an age where they CAN make informed choices based upon the information they have, what can you do? Your best. Show them what you believe and try to get them to understand it’s a choice they have as they grow up.

But don’t teach it to children in schools as the truth. That’s just plain wrong.

Generosity

So, Bush Plans to Seek $1.5 Bln to Bolster Levees in New Orleans?

Thats fantastic news - but, didn’t he spend all the original money that had already been set aside to reinforce the levees (before the hurricanes) on the Iraq War?

To date, more than $219 billion has been spent on the Iraq war. This folly has diverted billions from the Southeast Louisiana Flood Control Project, despite pre-Katrina warnings of impending disaster from former Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Joe Allbaugh and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers chief Mike Parker.

2theadvocate.com

See that? Folly. Haha. I like that word. Folly, the Iraq war is a folly. I wonder whether Bush will receive a boost in the polls, now he’s left it long enough so people will forget it was his fault there was no money to strengthen the levees BEFORE the hurricane.

The man is a fucking moron.

Katrina, Rita: Preemptive Attacks

So, there you go Mr Bush. You fuck with the big Ma and she fucks with you, with knobs on. You’re utter lack of spine when it comes to looking after the planet on which you reside disgusts me.

Not only are you being ripped a new arsehole for your failure when it came to responding to the disaster down South, but you’ll soon be ripped a new dickhole while you continue to not sign the Kyoto agreement that you so graciously pulled out of in 2001. “It costs too much!”, you whined. You pathetic, miserable little pussy - get a backbone.

How much could have gone into reducing the shit that America pumps into the atmosphere if you’d have not gone to war? How many lives could have been saved and propery not damaged if the money set aside for rebuilding the levees and strengthening New Orleans from flood had not been spent on war?

Sir John Lawton, chairman of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution which advises the government, made what the Independent newspaper said was a thinly disguised attack on the stance of U.S. President George W. Bush’s administration.

“The increased intensity of these kinds of extreme storms is very likely to be due to global warming,” Lawton told the newspaper in an interview.

“If this makes the climate loonies in the States realize we’ve got a problem, some good will come out of a truly awful situation,” said Lawton.

Fucking loonies, headed by the looniest loony of all. Impeach that lying, cheating stealing fuckwad and lets all start making ammends on repairing our planet before the very place we live wipes us out.

Ahahahaha - fuckers.

Bush drew withering criticism when he said in a TV interview that the breach of levees was a surprise, despite YEARS of federal reports, scientific analyses, and newspaper articles predicting that it would happen in a storm of Katrina’s strength.
